On Friday, July 12, 2024, the Department had the honor of hosting a special lecture by international experts from Ehime University and Canaan Geo Research, Japan, on the latest advancements in underground exploration. Prof. Mitsumasa Yamashina and Prof. Jun Shinohara presented innovative applications of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology, combined with 360-degree cameras, through the GMS3 device developed by Canaan Geo Research. This technology seamlessly integrates subsurface data with surface imagery to create comprehensive maps. The presentation showcased the results of underground void surveys conducted in Bangkok and within the King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi campus, demonstrating the technology’s capability for detailed subsurface investigations. The lecture was held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and was attended by approximately 30 participants. This event provided a valuable opportunity for Thai and Japanese academics to exchange knowledge and cutting-edge technologies.”
